Tehran : Saudi Interior Minister Nayef bin Abd al-Aziz said in Riyadh on Monday that the stability and security of the region depend upon cooperation between Iran and Saudi Arabia.

The Saudi minister made the remark in a meeting with Iran’s Ambassador to Riyadh Mohammad Hosseini, underlining that Tehran and Riyadh enjoy remarkable potential and capabilities to help resolve regional problems.

Pointing to the participation of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad at Hajj ritual, he added that this indicated the importance the Saudi King Abdullah attaches to Iran.

Al-Aziz further noted that Iranian pilgrims are among the most prestigious pilgrims during the Hajj ritual.

Hosseini, for his part, thanked the Saudi government for its particular attention to Iranian pilgrims and for its official invitation of the Iranian president to take part in the Hajj pilgrimage which showed Islamic solidarity between the two friendly countries.

The big countries of Iran and Saudi Arabia have crucial responsibility towards consolidating solidarity and unity among Islamic nations, he added.
