Raipur : Maoist guerrillas killed three members of the civil militia movement, Salwa Judum, in a forested stretch in southern Chhattisgarh Thursday, three days after abducting them.
The Leftists insurgents had Tuesday abducted three tribal members of the Salwa Judum from a relief camp in Mathwara village in Bijapur district. The rebels killed the three men Thursday by slitting their throats.
“The bodies of the three tribals were found by the roadside late Thursday,” Ankit Garg, district superintendent of police, told newsmen at the district headquarters of Bijapur town.
The fresh wounds on the necks suggested that the men had been killed Thursday and the bodies dumped on the road.
According to police, 36,991 people from 201 villages in Dantewada district and 10,949 people from 275 villages in neighbouring Bijapur are living in 23 government-run makeshift relief camps.
The mass exodus of villagers of these two districts began after they launched Salwa Judum in June 2005 to take on the Maoist insurgents.
