In a speech before business leaders in south California, McCain said he was open to a range of solutions to solve the problems in this sector, but he did not specify any concrete strategy.

“I won’t play political games with a real estate crisis in an election year. I will evaluate everything, to decide what is useful or harmful, to fight against the imbalance we are now facing,” he stated.

McCain said he would consider all the proposals, taking into account their costs and benefits.

He left it clear that the efforts to help house owners in trouble will be only focused on the owners, not on people who bought properties for speculative reasons, to rent, or just as a second dwelling.

In January, then Republican presidential aspirant Mitt Romney asked in a campaign activity in Florida if McCain really understood the US economy.
