Kabul : An Afghan civilian driver was killed when his vehicle struck an improvised explosive device in eastern Afghanistan, NATO forces said Friday.
The slain civilian was a fuel tanker driver. He was driving his vehicle in an ISAF convoy in the mountainouns province of Kunar.
A statement from NATO headquarters here said the bomb hit the vehicle around 11:00 a.m. (local time) on Thursday.
“The truck was part of a convoy that was conducting a resupply mission in the Manogai district,” it added.
“This is yet another example of the insurgents’ apparent disregard for human life,” said Major Nick Sternberg, an ISAF spokesperson.
No ISAF service members were killed or wounded in the attack.
