New Delhi : An eight-year-old girl tragically died in the southwestern Indian state of Kerala while replaying a suicide scene, which she had watched on TV, to her younger brother, local media said Monday.
The girl locked herself in a room and tied a noose round window bars while her five-year-old brother looked on from the garden, the ibnlive.com portal said. “I saw my sister hanging herself,” Appu said.
The incident occurred on April fool’s day while the children’s parents were out of the house. Shruthi was trying to “show her brother what she had seen on TV,” their mother, Sivasuthan, said.
Appu realized something was wrong and called the neighbors to help open the door, but the girl was already dead, police said.
