The conference is to be held in November 2007.

The permanent committee called for submitting its action plan for approval by permanent representatives to the Arab League Council.

The committee urged the league’s secretariat to monitor the attitude of member states represented in the United Nations Human Rights Council with regard to Israeli acts of violation of human rights in Arab territories.

The committee also called on the International Red Cross Committee to “intensify its activities in Palestinian territories and to make regular visits to Palestinian detainees in Israeli jails” and to facilitate such visits for the relatives of the Palestinian detainees.

The international community was asked to “force Israel to halt its aggression and occupation of Syria’s Golan Heights.”

The member states of the European Union were urged by the permanent committee to halt trade in Israeli products and merchandise, specifically those produced by Israeli settlements.

The permanent committee called for following the example of Kuwait, Iraq, Yemen and Lebanon and endorse the Arab Human Rights Treaty.
