Vienna : Chief Iranian nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani and IAEA Chief Mohamed ElBaradei are expected to meet together here on Friday, Iran’s IAEA Representative Ali Asgar Sultaniya said.
During the meeting, they will focus on the Iranian nuclear standoff, excluding UN Security Council resolutions demanding Iran to suspend its uranium enrichment, he said Wednesday.
The Iranian envoy at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said his government would continue working with the IAEA, but failed to reveal whether it would comply with UN resolutions on Iran’s nuclear programme.
Larijani is also expected to meet again with EU Foreign and Security Policy Chief Javier Solana to continue their talks on the Iranian nuclear crisis. They earlier met in Madrid on May 12.
During his meeting with the IAEA chief last month, the chief Iranian nuclear negotiator did not rule out that outstanding questions on his country’s nuclear standoff could be settled.
Iran is under pressure from the EU and US to suspend its nuclear programme and uranium enrichment activities. They accuse the Islamic Republic of seeking to build nuclear weapons.
Iran says its nuclear programme is entirely peaceful and is solely aimed at producing civilian nuclear power.
