Ahmedabad : A court here Monday sentenced 12 people to varying jail terms, including life imprisonment, for the killing of former Gujarat home minister Haren Pandya in March 2003.
While convicting them, the sessions court sentenced nine people to life imprisonment, holding that one of them, Ashgar Ali – the alleged mastermind – would spend his life in jail till death.
Two others were sentenced to seven years in jail and another to five years.
Soon after the killing of Pandya on March 25, 2003, his father had alleged that Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi was behind his son's murder.
