Indian film maker Prabodh Mukherji dies

Mumbai : Noted film maker Prabodh Mukherji passed away at a private hospital here following a cardiac arrest. He was 88.

Mukherji is survived by wife and two sons -Tapan and Basu, who are in the distribution business.

The end came at 2355 hrs last night at Nanavati Hospital where he was hospitalised for the last one week, his son Basu Mukherji told PTI.

Prabodh was younger brother of Sashdhar and Subodh Mukherji.

He produced several films like Shammi Kapoor starrer `Junglee’, `April fool’, `Sharmili’, `Love Marriage’, `Shagird’, `Abhinetri’, `Ladke Baap se badke’ and `Mr Romeo’.

Prabodh was partner in the Subodh Mukherji Productions along with brother Subodh. He handled the finances while Subodh was the creative partner involved in producing, scripting, direction.

The funeral will take place at Santacruz crematorium today.
