The off-road vehicle was carrying 18 passengers when it crashed into a truck on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. They had been on their way to a wedding party in India’s financial capital of Mumbai. The two surviving guests have been admitted to hospital.

In two recent similar accidents in India, 24 people returning home from a wedding reception were killed when the pick-up truck they were travelling in rammed into a truck in the northwestern state of Rajasthan on April 24.

Several hours before, a boat carrying guests to a wedding capsized in the river Neera near the city of Pune, killing 21 people.
