Urdu school returns govt. grant thrice

By TwoCircles.net staff reporter,

Asansol: When the Muslim community complain, most of the time justifiably, about government apathy towards educational facilities for the community, there is an Urdu school in this town which has returned government grants, not once but thrice in a row.

The amount allocated by the government for development work of Iqbalia Primary School has been returned because the school has not its own building to spend the fund on. The government fund (Rs. 1.7 lakh) was meant to be spent on the development of structure.

The school is being run in a hired building of a mosque in Quaraishi Mohalla. Locals asked the secretary of the masjid committee to issue a utilization certificate to the government authorities to accept this grant but he refused to do so saying that there was no provision like this in the constitution of the committee.

Ward Councillor of the area Shahina Perween says that the committee has no plan to tackle the issue. Neither they try to buy a building for the school, nor they want to use the fund.
