The ministerial meeting on labour problems involving G8 officials from Great Britain, Italy, Canada, Russia, the United States, France, Germany and Japan will begin in Niigata, Japan on Monday.

The meeting results, particularly a statement issued by its chairperson, will be used at a G8 summit on Japan’s island of Hokkaido in July 2008.

The upcoming G8 ministerial meeting is specific, as labour issues will be linked with ecological problems, that is to say the routine labour of people should be harmonized with the environment.

Another important item on the agenda is the development of domestic resources in all countries in order to create additional jobs.

Meanwhile, Russian Deputy Minister of Health and Social Development Alexander Safonov told Russia’s Itar-Tass news agency on Monday that the G8 ministerial meeting would focus “on the use of labour of three groups of population – disabled people, mothers with children and young people.” In his view, the foresaid groups of population are “vulnerable people on the labour market.”

The G8 states are trying to solve effectively their problems.

Only one labour minister from Japan will attend the G8 ministerial meeting. Deputy labour ministers and other high-ranking officials will represent Great Britain, Italy, Canada, the United States, France, Germany and Russia.

Top officials of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development and the International Labour Organisation, as well as representatives from Thailand and Indonesia will also attend the meeting.
