Addressing a public meeting at Dantewada, the district headquarters of the Maoist insurgency affected Dantewada district, Advani said: “Chhattisgarh’s BJP government has revolutionized quality of life of backward Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes population and farmers’ community as well.”

Advani, who reached the state’s southern Dantewada on a day-long visit amid heavy security, flagged off a six-phase `vikas yatra’ (development march) led by Chief Minister Raman Singh.

Earlier, Advani along with Singh and several other state-level BJP leaders offered prayers at the temple of Maa Danteshwari.

Singh, who described the yatra “a warm up to November assembly polls”, will address 1,200 public meetings from May 23-June 29, in each of the 90 assembly seats to know “public views about the saffron government”, party officials said.

The state goes to polls in November to elect its new legislative assembly.
