Bangalore : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was Sunday ahead of the Congress party in the race for power in Karnataka.
The BJP was leading in 39 constituencies, the Congress in 27 and the Janata Dal-Secular (JD-S) in six, officials said. Independents were ahead in two places.
Counting of votes began at 8 a.m. in 48 centres across the state to elect a new 224-member house.
