UAE president meets Spanish king over bilateral ties, regional issues

Abu Dhabi : President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan held talks on Sunday with visiting Spanish King Juan Carlos over bilateral relations and regional issues, Emirates News Agency reported.

During the meeting, Sheikh Khalifa expressed his hope that King Carlos’ visit will revamp bilateral relations in all areas, particularly in economic, commercial, investment, tourist and cultural fields.

The UAE is keen to develop its relations with Spain through opening up investment fields and expanding scope of cooperation in the best interest of the two countries, Sheikh Khalifa said.

On his part, King Carlos said that his visit indicated the “growing relations between the two friendly countries.”

The two leaders also discussed a number of prominent issues concerning the development of bilateral relations in all fields.

In addition, the pair exchanged views on the Middle East peace process and a number of issues of common interest.

King Carlos arrived in Abu Dhabi, capital of the UAE, on Saturday on a state visit to the Gulf country.

Sheikh Khalifa said earlier in an interview with the Spanish News Agency that during King Carlos’ visit, the UAE and Spain will sign a number of bilateral agreements including a cooperation agreement on military training and research.
