Ahmedabad : Gujarat’s Deputy Inspector General of Police Rajnish Rai, held guilty of copying in a law examination, has again approached the Gujarat High Court.
Rai has contended in his petition, filed Monday, that he was not provided evidence of his “copying” during the first-year Ll.B. examination though the court had directed Gujarat University to do so.
The university’s Unfair Means Committee Sunday had found him guilty of copying.
During the examination April 25, a foot ruler Rai had brought was found to have something scribbled on it. The invigilator at the Siddhartha Law College, Gandhinagar, said Rai was copying while the police official has contended his son had scribbled on the ruler and that had nothing to do with his law exam.
Rai hit headlines when he arrested fellow Indian Police Service (IPS) officer D.G. Vanjara in a case of staged shootout in which Sohrabuddin Sheikh was killed here in November 2005.
