Kathmandu : Nepali Home minister Krishna Prasad Sitaula Monday let a team, inspecting the former royal palace and meeting former king Gyanendra.
After inspecting the former royal Narayanhiti palace in the downtown of Nepali capital Kathmandu, Minister Sitaula informed reporters about the meeting.
“I am ready to accept the decision of the first meeting of the Constituent Assembly (CA) and leave the palace within the given time frame,” the former king told Home minister Krishna Prasad Sitaula.
“He had his concern over his new settlement and security and I assured him that the government would inform him by making possible arrangements,” Minister Sitaula said.
Sources inside the palace also claimed that Gyanendra has shown interest to stay separately from his son Paras. He wants his son to stay in his former residence Nirmal Niwas in Kathmandu, while he himself will live separately.
Besides the Home Minister, the team comprises of Chief Secretary Bhoj Raj Ghemire, Secretary at the Home Ministry Umesh Mainali, Defense Secretary Baman Prasad Mainali, General Administration Secretary Dr Govinda Kusum, who is also the head of the government panel formed to prepare an account of the royal property, and the chief of the government panel set up to make security arrangements for the palace and joint-secretary at Home Ministry Mod Raj Dotel.
The CA on May 28, declared the country a federal democratic republic and directed the Nepali government to require the former king to vacate the Narayanhity royal palace within 15 days.
