By IANS, Srinagar : A division bench of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court Tuesday refused to put on hold a judgement of the court’s single bench cancelling the appointment of the director of a prestigious medical institute here.
The division bench, comprising Justice Bashir Ahmad Kirmani and Justice Y.P. Nargotra fixed next week for the final hearing of the appeal filed by the state government and Sheikh Jalal, the ousted director of the Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) here.
Justice Hakim Imtiyaz Hussain had last week nullified the controversial appointment of Jalal to the topmost medical office in the state stating it was made without adhering to the laid down procedures for such a prestigious post.
The state government is now left with little option but to appoint a new director in place of Jalal.
