Shimla : Traffic bound for Kinnaur in Himachal Pradesh remained disrupted Wednesday following a landslide on the Hindustan-Tibet National Highway.
The landslide occurred Tuesday night near Matiana village, 45 km from here, officials said.
The traffic was diverted via Basantpur village in Shimla district. Buses of the Himachal Pradesh Roadways Corp also plied on this route.
Workers and engineers of the public works department were on the job to clear the blockade. But intermittent showers throughout the day hampered the road clearing work.
Meanwhile, the lower areas of Himachal Pradesh experienced light to heavy rain. The tribal districts of Kinnaur, Lahaul, Spiti and Kullu were lashed with mild intermittent snow Wednesday.
Residents of Shimla town and nearby areas woke up to a sunny day. But by noon thick clouds covered the sky. Intermittent rain hampered the movement of traffic.
