Kabul : Taliban militants Saturday abducted a Pakistani engineer working for an Afghan road construction company in Afghanistan’s southern province of Kandahar, a senior police official said.
“The Pakistani national was a road engineer and worked for an Afghan road construction company. Armed Taliban militants abducted him after injuring his Afghan driver. He was involved in the reconstruction of the Kandahar-Gereshk road,” provincial police chief Syed Aqa Saqib told Xinhua.
He did not give more details.
Saqib said in a separate incident Saturday militants struck a vehicle of the same company through a mine explosion that killed an Afghan soldier and wounded another.
On Thursday, a suicide attack on an Indian road construction company in the western province of Nimroz killed an Indian and wounded five.
