Paris : Rafael Nadal raced to a historic fourth successive French Open singles title with a 6-1, 6-3, 6-0 demolition of old foe and World No. 1 Roger Federer at Roland Garros here Sunday.
The Spaniard did not place a foot wrong as he equalled Bjorn Borg’s record of four French Open titles on the trot. This was also the fourth time, three in successive finals, that Federer hit the roadblock called Nadal in his quest to win the only Grand Slam title eluding him.
Nadal was at his best and Federer, the winner of 12 grand-slam titles, simply had no answers to the booming strokes of Nadal, who proved to be the King of Clay.
