Addis Ababa : Indian Foreign Affairs Minister, Pranab Mukherjee, arrived here on Tuesday leading a high-level delegation on a four-day visit to Ethiopia.
Upon arrival at the Addis Ababa Bole International Airport, Mukherjee was welcomed by Ethiopian State Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Tekeda Alemu, Ethiopian Ambassador to India, Genet Zewde, other senior Foreign Ministry officials and Indian community members.
Mukherjee told reporters at the airport that the relation between the two countries is long standing and has been based on mutual benefits.
He said his government is desire to bolster this relation and cooperation in the economic, political and social areas.
During his visit, Mukherjee will hold a detailed discussions with his Ethiopian counterpart Seyoum Mesfin. He will also call on President Girma Woldegiorgis and Prime Minister Meles Zenawi and senior cabinet ministers.
He will also hold discussions with the Chairperson of the African Union Alpha Oumar Konare and is expected to address African permanent representatives to the AU.
His visit came in response to the invitation extended to him by Foreign Minister Seyoum.
