“A good leadership in the party, irrespective of who it is, will have to take along everyone and they cannot sideline anyone. If they do not change, then soon they will realize what they are doing is wrong,” Karunakaran told reporters here Sunday.

Karunakaran, who had split from the Congress and started his own party, returned to the Congress fold last December and has been accommodated as a permanent invitee in the Congress Working Committee.

However, none of his aides has managed to get any post in either the state or district level bodies of the party.

Playing spoilsport on Karunakaran’s return to the Congress is his son K. Muraleedharan, who continues to be in the Nationalist Congress Party. He said the reason why Karunakaran’s supporters are not accommodated is because he has given a jumbo list.

“His only agenda is a Lok Sabha seat for that lady (Muraleedharan’s sister Padmaja) and that was his only condition when he decided to return to the Congress party,” said Muraleedharan.
