New Delhi : Sachar Committee report will be an Election issue, BJP has made its intention clear by distributing a booklet written by Prof. Rakesh Sinha titled ” Roti, Rozgar aur Rajya ka Sampradayikaran Sachar Committee report ka Punarvalokan” in its National Convention.
In recently concluded National Convention, participants were given this booklet to help them in raising this issue during next General Election. Sinha who is a reader in the Political Science department of Delhi University attacked the Sachar Committee Report saying it was intended to communalise the politics.
In his inaugural speech, BJP President had pointed out the Sachar Committee Report is against the spirit of constitutions. He also critised the Committee recommendation of more rational procedure of Delimitation of Constituencies saying it was beyond the terms and references of the committee . Committee had recommended that reserved seats with higher minority population should not be reserved to increase Muslim representation.
Rajnath Singh rejected the Sachar Committee report terming it as an effort to divide the society on communal lines.
Author of the book, Prof Rakesh Sinha, Political Science Department of Delhi University, has maintained that “The Sachar Committee report has been modelled on the Hunter Committee report of 1871, which was designed to divide India on the basis of religion by the British. The Sachar Committee report will again divide India should it be allowed to be implemented”.
Prof Sinha is of view that higher Muslim population growth as compared to general population growth is the sign that the community is thriving, despite the so-called economic backwardness as pointed out by the report.
