Beirut : At least one people died and over 20 were wounded during armed clashes in the northern Lebanese city of Tripoli.
Explosions and machinegun fire rocked the Bab el Tebaneh and Jabal Mohsenciudad neighbourhoods at daybreak on Sunday, witnesses said.
A tense calm reigns now in the vecinity, although there are still some isolate shots in some places, local press reported.
At least 10 people were arrested last week for attacking a police patrol in the nearby area of the Palestinian refugee camp of Badawi, northeast of Tripoli.
