Market trading with gain at early trade

Mumbai : The Indian equities market, which opened with a minimal gain, was trading with profit at early trade Tuesday. Buying interest was seen in banking, oil and gas, and capital goods stocks.

The 30-share benchmark sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) opened with a gain of 20.01 points at 14,313.33 points. Ten minutes into trade, the sensex was trading at 14,397.85 with a gain of 104.53 points or 0.73 percent.

At the same time, the S&P Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was trading at 4302.05 points with a gain of 35.65 points or 0.84 percent compared to its last close.

The market breadth was positive. On the BSE, 754 shares advanced compared to 581 that declined and 34 that remained unchanged.

Ranbaxy Labs, Reliance Industries and State Bank of India (SBI) were among the top gainers while Hindalco, HDFC, Grasim Industries were among the top losers at the initial trade.

Asian markets were trading lower.
