Islamabad : Pakistan and Indian anti-terror experts Tuesday agreed to exchange specific information in a bid to prevent violence and terrorist acts.
The two countries also agreed to continue to work to identify counter-terrorism measures, said a joint statement issued here at the third meeting of the Joint Anti-Terrorism Mechanism.
“The two sides reviewed the follow up steps taken on the information shared during the earlier meetings of the Joint-Anti Terrorism Mechanism,” the statement said, adding “both sides shared fresh information on terrorist incidents.”
The Pakistani delegation was led by Masood Khalid, Additional Secretary (Asia-Pacific) of Ministry of Foreign Affairs while the Indian side was headed by Vivek Katju, Additional Secretary of Ministry of External Affairs of India.
Indian Minister for External Affairs Pranab Mukharjee traveled to Pakistan last month and both sides agreed to continue their “composite dialogue” process which also covered talks over joint anti-terror mechanism.
Pakistani Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani is likely to meet Indian counterpart in Sri Lanka next month when the two leaders will travel there for a regional summit.
