Mumbai: Thackerays came to Mumbai two generations ago for jobs, and so have no right to assault those coming in search of livelihood in the city, says an article published in the June issue of the Nationalist Congress Party’s mouthpiece Rashtravadi.
The article written by Professor Hari Narke of the Pune University condemns Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray’s nephew and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray for launching violent campaigns against north Indians coming to the financial capital of the country in search of job. “Raj should read the autobiography of his grandfather Prabodhankar Thackeray (Bal Thackeray’s father). Prabodhankar, who studied in Madhya Pradesh, has written how he travelled in other states for livelihood,” says Narke in the article.
This proves, Narke says, that Thackerays are not original inhabitants of Mumbai; they came to the city in search of livelihood like lakhs of others who are coming today.
