Thiruvananthapuram : The Kerala government is looking for a site in Malappuram district to open a branch of the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Education Minister M.A. Baby announced Wednesday.
“The human resources development ministry has decided to set up five branches of the AMU across the country and one campus will came up in Kerala,” Baby told the state assembly.
“We are ready to set aside required land and are searching for a suitable site. We want a full fledged campus, including medical, engineering and other professional courses,” he said.
Malappuram district has the largest number of Muslims in the state.
