Lucknow : At least 10 students were hospitalised as they took ill after dinner in their madrassa in Uttar Pradesh’s Ambedkar Nagar district, an official said Monday.
“After complaining of severe stomach-ache, the students started vomiting following which they were rushed to a private hospital here,” Ambedkar Nagar chief medical officer Liaquat Ali told IANS.
The incident took place at the madrassa Jaam-e-Ashraf in Kichaucha locality, about 160 km from here.
The official said the exact cause of their illness was yet to be ascertained.
“We have sealed the food and other edibles used by the madrassa to establish whether the case involves food poisoning or not,” he added.
Students from various states, especially West Bengal and Bihar, study in this madrassa, officials said.
