Jammu : A fresh batch of 3,531 Amarnath pilgrims left for the holy cave shrine of Lord Shiva in South Kashmir from Jammu base camp amid tight security arrangements early this morning.
Reports said that the batch comprising 619 women, 70 children and 678 Sadhus left for Amarnath shrine in 102 vehicles at around 5AM on Monday. The caravan included 76 buses, 25 LMVs and a truck; sources informed News Agency of Kashmir.
It may be mentioned here that the Amarnath pilgrimage was suspended here on Sunday due to inclement weather conditions at Chandanwari enroute Amarnath shrine. However, the pilgrimage was also suspended several times due to heavy rush of pilgrims at Baltal and Pahalgam base camps. The two-month-long Amarnath pilgrimage was commenced on June 17.
