Lucknow : Former Uttar Pradesh minister and Bahujan Samaj Party legislator Jamuna Nishad, who was arrested for allegedly leading a mob attack on a police station, was admitted to Gorakhpur district hospital late Saturday after he complained of chest pain, an official said.
Nishad was arrested from the Hazratganj locality here June 11 after his name figured in an FIR lodged June 7 in Maharajganj district. He was accused of leading a mob attack on a police station, followed by firing, in which a police constable was killed.
He was lodged in Devariya district jail and referred to the Gorakhpur district hospital after he complained of c hest pain.
“Heart specialist Mukul Mishra advised Nishad to be admitted to the hospital after a medical checkup,” a police official told IANS.
Chief Minister Mayawati sacked Nishad from the ministry within 24 hours after the case was registered against him in the Kotwali police station of Maharajganj.
