Politicians will not be allowed to take land issue’s mileage: Bar Association

Jammu, July 11 (NAK): Maintaining that the issue of land transfer to Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) does not belong to a particular community, Bar Association Jammu today warned that political would not be allowed to take political mileage of Amarnath row in the ensuing assembly elections scheduled to be held in October.

Addressing media persons here on Friday, the president of Bar Association of Jammu B S Slathia maintained, “The politician who had indulged in raking up for land transfer issue would not be allowed to take political mileage in the ensuing assembly elections. The issue does not belong to a particular community along but it is a matter of concern for entire Jammu region.”

He further maintained, “The issue is directly linked to sentiments of not only people of Jammu region but also of millions of Hindus living across the country. The land should be handed over back to SASB.” He, however, alleged that some political parties are trying to play cards in the name of religion under the cover of Amarnath land transfer issue and warned that the Bar Association would not allow such leaders to politicize the issue for scoring vote bank.

“Jammu region has been discriminated since long but Amarnath land row has united the people for a cause and brought them under one roof to agitate against the Kashmir-centric leadership,” he observed, adding “The battle is on and we will fight unless the land is not handed over back to the Shrine Board.”

He informed that a committee of senior advocates under the supervision of Advocate S K Shukla has been formed to legally examine the recommendations made by the State Governor, which led to revocation of the land transfer order.

“We want people from across the Jammu region to come forward and jointly announce agitation demanding the transfer of land to the Shrine Board that was revoked unconstitutionally and illegally,” he further maintained.

It may be mentioned that Bar Association of Jammu has suspended its work for the last few days in protest against the revocation of forest land transfer to Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB). (NAK)
