Tehran : The United States has yet to make a formal request for opening an interest section in Iran, Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said.
“The US officials have followed up the issue in an American way which is through media and informed sources. We’ve got no request to this effect,” Mottaki told reporters after a cabinet meeting Sunday.
He added that during his last visit to New York, he was asked by reporters to comment on the issue which was quoted from “informed sources and media.”
“I answer that it could be considered,” added the foreign minister.
“If there is an official request, we will study it,” Mottaki said.
He stressed that the Islamic Republic has always been honest with the people.
