The aircraft was found close to the coastal city of Douala, from where it took off bound for Nairobi in the early hours of Saturday morning. No information on possible survivors or the condition of the aircraft was available. The development follows the extension of the search for the aircraft to a second site in swampland north of Doula.

Cameroon state radio had earlier on Sunday reported that the plane, a Boeing-737 800 belonging to airline Kenyan Airways, had been found. A Kenyan Airways spokesperson however subsequently denied that report.
