Mumbai : The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), student wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has announced a campaign to detect and evict Bangladeshi nationals living illegally in India.
Linking most terror incidents directly with the presence of Bangladeshi nationals, the ABVP’s national organising secretary Sunil Ambekar claimed here Thursday that there are over 30 million Bangladeshis staying illegally in India.
While 5.50 million live in Assam, three million live in Bihar and West Bengal each and another 1.50 million are in Mumbai and Thane districts of Maharashtra, Ambekar told reporters. Present at the conference was state ABVP secretary Prakash Belwade.
He released a report “Bangladesh Infiltration in India”, prepared by party activists who worked independently all over the country, including several outposts on India-Bangladesh border areas.
Ambekar said that several terrorist incidents, including the bomb explosions in Hyderabad have been linked to Harkat-ul-Jehad e-Islami (HuJI), which operates from Bangladesh.
Apart from the illegal Bangladeshis, members of sleeper cells of several terror outfits are also infiltrating into India and wreaking havoc here, he said.
He pointed out that his party’s surveyors found that in 26 districts of Assam, West Bengal and Tripura, the population of illegal Bangladeshis was as high as 70 percent.
Ambekar claimed that the Pakistan’s Inter Service Intelligence (ISI) agency was now running terror operations through Bangladesh and several intelligence agencies’ reports also suggest this development.
When asked whether Bangladeshis were involved in last week’s serial blasts at Ahmedabad and Bangalore and the recovery of live bombs in Surat, Ambekar said several media reports have pointed to the involvement of HuJI in those terror incidents.
