Rallies banned in Islamabad amid fears of terror attacks

Islamabad : The government has banned rallies in the federal capital here in the coming two months amid fears of terror attacks.

Staging of processions, demonstrations and gatherings of five or more persons, which are likely to disrupt peace, have been banned, News Network International (NNI) news agency quoted District Magistrate of Islamabad Amer Ali Ahmed as saying.

The use of loudspeakers and sound amplifiers, except for prayers, has been prohibited within the limits of the capital.

Pakistan is continuing military operation in northwestern Swat valley against local Taliban.

The militants have reportedly threatened to retaliate with suicide attacks in the country.
