Alana Mian was among four people who were injured in an arson attack in Bolton June 23 and succumbed to her injuries Friday in a Leicester hospital. Alana’s maternal grandmother, Hameeda Begum, 71, died in the attack while her mother Saima and a firefighter, Steve Morris, are still in hospital.

The girl and her parents, from Sydney, Australia, were visiting relatives in Bolton. Her father Fahad Mian, an IT salesman, had returned to Australia before the arson attack.

Two people – 22-year-old man and a 12-year-old boy – who were arrested in connection with the blaze have been bailed until Sept 24.

Hameeda Begum’s husband, jeweller Mumtaz Chishty, said last month: “We need to know who this was and why they did it. I have no grudge with anyone. I just want justice for my wife and family.”

Chishty was held back by neighbours as he tried to enter the burning house to save his wife, daughter and granddaughter.
