By IRNA,
Tehran : Foreign Ministry Spokesman Hassan Qashqavi said on Saturday that members of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) unanimously backed Iran’s peaceful nuclear program.
In view of the recent media propaganda seeking to distort the stance of NAM members on Iran’s nuclear program, he said it is quite unfair to cite comments made by a NAM member on the outcome of NAM foreign ministers meeting in Tehran.
The move was the outcome of an unfair approach by pro-US media and officials, he said.
According to the Information and Press Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he said it is quite natural that various comments and views are brought up at expert discussions but the final decision which was approved by all members should be seen as the outcome of the conference.
NAM members strongly backed Iran’s nuclear program unanimously and underlined that unconditional negotiations is the only solution to this stand-off, he said.
Referring to Tehran’s declaration, he said the full text of NAM foreign ministerial meeting in Tehran indicates they have adopted a much better stands in comparison with the one adopted at the last meeting in Cuba in backing Iran’s peaceful nuclear program.
In the second clause of Tehran’s declaration, they backed Iran’s decisions on nuclear energy as well as its nuclear recycling and they also welcomed Geneva talks, he said.
Presence of some 70 delegates at ministerial levels and 20 others as deputy ministers indicated the firm determination of NAM members in backing its rights in playing a significant role at international fora, he pointed out.
