Yavatmal (Maharashtra): Now that two violence-hit talukas of Digras and Pusad in the Yavatmal district are returning to normal, social activists, community leaders and religious organizations are making good efforts for relief work for the victims and affected people there.
Talking to TwoCircles.net from Yavatmal on phone regional head of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Aquil Mirza said that 1,10,000 packets of grains and essentials have been distributed in the area. Each packet weighing 10kg had rice, pulse, sugar and tealeaf.
Besides food packets, they are also providing the affected people with some cash. So far all relief materials have been collected in the district and its neighbouring areas. Mirza said that he was assured by JIH zonal office in Mumbai for support.
In the beginning a truck loaded with relief material was stopped by policemen but after the intervention of the DM, the truck and social workers were allowed in.
He further said all 25 people who were arrested in Pusad have been released on bail.
