London : A day after his appointment as the captain of England’s cricket team, Kevin Pietersen said he would like his side to play the way he does — by gut instinct.

“I want the team to play similar to the way I play my game, although you have to be accountable for the things you do and be responsible for the decisions you make,” Pietersen was quoted as saying in the Daily Telegraph Tuesday.

“The way I play is by gut instinct. I like to do things spontaneously.”

Pietersen’s appointment came after Michael Vaughan left the post Sunday.

Pietersen also claimed that he had repaired his relationship with England coach Peter Moores. The two held a meeting at Loughborough Sunday, where they thrashed out their differences.

“I don’t think I would be sitting here today if I was not 100 per cent confident that everything is going to be perfectly fine,” Pietersen said.

“Peter likes to challenge players, but the crux of the meeting was to determine and decipher where Peter and myself can take this England team.
