New Delhi : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Monday said separatists in Kashmir had invented the “myth” of an economic blockade of the valley to divert attention from the main issue of restoration of land to the Amarnath shrine management.
“We have been briefed that around 400-500 trucks have moved from Srinagar to Jammu under full protection provided by the police and the army, which itself dismisses the claim of ‘economic blockade’ in the valley,” BJP spokesman Ravi Shankar Prasad told reporters here.
“Since the separatists in Kashmir have been exposed, they are trying to divert the main issue of restoration of land to the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB),” he added.
The BJP spokesman blamed the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government for the unrest in Jammu and Kashmir, saying it had failed to take remedial measures in time.
The state has been simmering with discontent for the past 42 days over the SASB land transfer issue and more than a dozen people have been killed in the violence since then.
Meanwhile, the BJP continued its three-day ‘jail bharo’ or court arrest campaign and its hundreds of activists were arrested across the country. All were later released on bail.
In Delhi senior BJP leaders Sushma Swaraj and Vijay Malohtra were arrested from Jantar Mantar.
