Search on for Chhattisgarh government’s chopper

Raipur : A chopper of the Chhattisgarh government carrying four people went missing Saturday after taking off from Bhopal for Raipur, officials said.

“The chopper that went to Bhopal for some mandatory technical purposes has remained completely traceless till 9 p.m. after it took off from Bhopal at 12.30 p.m. for Raipur,” Anil Tuteja, director of civil aviation, told IANS by phone.

“A total four persons are on board included a technician and an engineer. Captain A.S. Sidhu and Captain Vikram Savekar are piloting the helicopter,” he said, adding that efforts were on to locate it.

An official said: “The helicopter went missing in a hilly terrain of Madhya Pradesh an hour after the take-off from Bhopal but nothing can be said exactly about what happened – the initial information was that the chopper lost direction due to thick clouds.”
