Pakistan: Altaf Hussain proposes Asif Zardari for president’s slot

Karachi : Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Chief Altaf Hussain proposed the name of Co-Chairman, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Senator Asif Ali Zardari for presidential candidate. Altaf said the way Asif Zardari amicably resolved the matter of President Musharraf’s impeachment was commendable, said a statement issued by MQM here.

MQM Chief paying tributes to former president Pervez Musharraf for resigning from the office of the president said on Wednesday the ex-president has saved the country from a crisis.

He said after the demise of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, Asif Ali Zardari has borne the sorrow with courage and has kept the PPP united, which, Altaf said speaks about his acumen and eminent strategy.

Keeping in view the sacrifices presented by Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and after taking suggestions from his companion he has reached the conclusion that if some one has the right from a small province to become president of the country, it is Asif Ali Zardari, said Altaf Hussain.

He said he as Chief of MQM proposes Asif Zardari on his own behalf and on behalf of his party as candidate for the post of president.
