Dubai : India slipped one place to the fifth spot while Australia still remained the No.1 team in the annual update of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Test Championship list.
Sri Lanka moved up two places to third position with 107 points and is eight points behind England, who are second with 115 rating points.
South Africa (102) is also up two places from sixth spot to fourth while Pakistan (99) is the big loser after the update having dropped three places from third to sixth.
The annual update is carried out to ensure the ICC Test Championship table continues to reflect recent form with older results being discarded. As such, the new table only includes results from series completed after Aug 1, 2004.
One result of the ICC Test Championship update is that Zimbabwe has dropped off the main table as it has only played eight Tests since that date. Test match rankings have historically been based on a minimum of 10 Tests played by each member over the three to four-year period.
Team rankings:
1. Australia 141 rating points
2. England 115
3. Sri Lanka 107
4. South Africa 102
5. India 102
6. Pakistan 99
7. New Zealand 99
8. West Indies 72
9. Bangladesh 4
