New Delhi : Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee has convened a meeting of leaders of political parties Feb 8 ahead of the budget session in an effort to find a way out of the parliament stalemate over the opposition demand for a joint parliamentary committee probe into 2G spectrum.
The meeting has been convened ahead of the budget session that begins Feb 21, which the opposition has threatened to disrupt over the demand for a JPC probe into the 2G spectrum allocation.
The winter session of parliament was washed out over the opposition’s persistent demand for a JPC.
The government has rejected the demand for a JPC as the 2G spectrum allocation is being probed by parliament’s Public Accounts Committee, led by BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi.
