Faizabad (Uttar Pradesh): That the state government is biased against Urdu despite it being second official language here is evident from the fact that the language has now dismal presence in the government offices.
These views were expressed by general secretary of the state unit of Urdu Bachao Tahreek (Save Urdu Movement) Irshad Ahmad. He further pointed out that at present there are very few schools in the state where Urdu teaching has remained intact because Urdu teachers have not been recruited for several years.
He also expressed dismay over the behavior of the lovers of Urdu language as they are content with bemoaning for worse condition of the language but neither unite and agree to any common agenda nor they come forward to press the government to act.
He said all the lovers of Urdu language need to resolve to get the language made compulsory till eighth standard. He said that it should not be a difficult task in any case because the Bahujan Samaj Party is in absolute majority in UP assembly and the Samajwadi Party sits in opposition.
