Liberhan report: Indifference is dangerous for the country – Prof KA Siddique Hasan

By TwoCircles.net Staff Correspondent,

Kochi: If creative measures are not taken on the Liberhan Commission report, it will affect the secular democratic future of the country dangerously, said Prof KA Siddique Hasan, national vice-president of the Jamat e Islami Hind. He was inaugurating the public meeting organised by the Solidarity Youth Movement raising the slogan ‘Babri demolition – punish the culprits’ in Kozhikode.

Prof Hasan said that the Gujarat riots took place because a situation was created in which culprits who publicly challenged law and order and secular democratic values could move about freely. The riots, crimes and communal propaganda that continue even now began as part of it. So all the people named by the Liberhan Commission should be brought before law. The organisations that led the demolition of the Babri Masjid should be banned and the Parliamentarians named by the Commission should be debarred. The cases in connection with it should be tried in special fast track courts and should be made ready for judjements, he added.

India is ruled by pseudo-secularists who refuse even to call those who demolished the Babri Masjid as culprits, opined Dr PK Pokker, director of the Bhasha Institute (language institute). He added that the formation of a wide anti-fascist alliance was essential in such circumstances. O Abdurahman, editor of ‘Madhyamam’ daily, opined that the country was sustained by secular conscience but the rulers do not have the guts to act according to it. He added that the dangerous mentality created by the psychological war waged by the Sangh Parivar till this time had influenced different peoples and the media and even perhaps the judiciary.

P Mujeeb Rahman, state president of the Solidarity, presided over the meeting. S Irshad, state general secretary of the SIO, and Koottil Muhammedali, state shura member of the Jamat e Islami, also spoke. T Muhammed welcomed the audience and Razak Paleri delivered the vote of thanks.
