New Delhi: In the background of Gujarat IPS officer D.G Vanzara’s explosive disclosure, Welfare Party of India general secretary Dr.S.Q.R. Ilyas, in a statement, asked the Central Bureau of investigation (CBI) to quiz Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and former minister of state for home affairs Amit Shah.
Vanzara, who is in jail since 2007 in Soharabuddin encounter, in his 10 page resignation letter dated September 1 had categorically stated in unequivocal words that the Police Officers including himself and his seniors acted and performed their duty in compliance of the policy of the BJP government led by Narendra Modi. Vanzara in his letter to the Gujarat Additional Chief Secretary (Home) had even stated that he used to adore Modi as God.
Party general secretary Dr.S.Q.R. Ilyas in his statement made it clear that what has been disclosed by Police Officer Vanzara has ratified the stand taken by human rights organizations, victims of the 2002 Gujarat pogrom and fake encounters, civil society and many political parties that all the atrocities in the name of ‘zero tolerance for terrorism’ were orchestrated with the knowledge and approval of top functionaries of Gujarat government including Chief Minister Narendra Modi.
He asked the Chief Minister to step down forthwith and face criminal charges. Dr. Ilyas also wanted to know what the BJP president Mr. Rajnath Singh who tried to praise Mr. Modi recently while addressing the national executive of BJP national minority morcha in Delhi, where he pointed out that Mr. Modi was saddened about the riots that killed more than 2000 people and that it was accidental and not at the behest of the chief minister. The BJP president had claimed, “I have read his facial expressions whenever I have interacted with Narendra Modi (on the issue of riots) and he looks so sad (about the riots).”
