New Delhi : The US has not put any pressure on India on its joining the proposed Iran-Pakistan-India gas pipeline project, Minister of External Affairs Pranab Mukherjee said here Wednesday.

Replying to a question in the Lok Sabha, the lower house of Indian parliament, Mukherji denied that the US had asked India not to move forward with the envisaged Iran-Pakistan-India pipeline project that would bring natural gas from Iran to India.

The ministry of petroleum has been negotiating the pipeline project with Iran and Pakistan, said a statement issued by the external affairs ministry.

The sixth meeting of the tripartite joint working group was held in New Delhi June 28-29, 2007.

So far, three meetings of the India-Pakistan joint working group and five meetings of the India-Iran special joint working group have been held.

Several key issues including the pricing formula, transit fee and transportation tariff are still under discussion, the statement noted.
